Which car job do you need?
Most car locksmith calls are one of four jobs. Find the one that matches what happened; each has its own page with the detail.
- Lost or broken key, or you want a spare: a replacement key, cut and, on most modern cars, programmed to the car.
- A remote or fob that has stopped working: a replacement remote or proximity fob paired to the car, with its emergency blade cut.
- Keys locked inside: a car lockout. We open the door or trunk so you can get your keys back.
- A key that will not turn, or a car that will not start: an ignition lock problem, a key problem or an electrical fault. Describe what happens and we will tell you which it sounds like.
Keys and fobs
Keys, remotes, fobs and programming
A car key can be a plain metal blade, a transponder key with a chip in the head, a remote-head key with lock buttons, or a proximity fob for push-button start. Cutting and programming are two separate steps. A well-cut blade opens the door, but the engine will not start until the chip is programmed to the car.
Making a spare while you still have a working key is the simpler job. When every key is lost, a new one can often be cut from the key code tied to the vehicle’s VIN, with proof that the car is yours, and then programmed.

Locked out of your car
Emergency callouts run 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Tell us where the car is, the year, make and model, and whether the key is locked inside or lost. If it is lost, the job becomes a lockout plus a replacement key, and we plan for both.
We open the car for its owner or an authorized driver, so have your ID and the registration ready to show once the door is open. If a child is locked inside and at risk, call 911.
Will not start?
Ignition fault, key fault or electrical fault
A key that will not go in, will not turn or will not come out points to the mechanical side: a worn key or a worn ignition lock cylinder. That is locksmith work.
If the key turns and the dash lights up but the engine will not start, the car may not be recognizing the key’s chip, which we can check. If the dash stays dark or the engine only clicks, the battery, the starter or the wiring is the likely cause, and that is a job for a mechanic. A new key does not fix every no-start, so tell us what the car does before you book.

I had to use this locksmith on Monday, which happened to be a holiday, and I couldn’t have been more impressed with the service! They responded incredibly quickly, were very professional and friendly, and had the job taken care of fast. Their customer service was excellent, especially considering it was a holiday. I really appreciated how easy and stress-free they made the whole situation. I would definitely recommend them to anyone needing a reliable and responsive locksmith!

One of our front door locks failed completely on a Friday afternoon. Customers still coming in, employees trying to leave for the weekend. Not a good situation. If your business is in Chandler and you need commercial lock work done fast, Diamondback Lock and Key is who you want. Been in this building almost 14 years and dealt with a few locksmiths over that time. Nobody moved this quick. They had someone out before I even had time to start stressing about it. The tech knew exactly what he was looking at. Didn't try to sell me a full replacement when a repair was the right call. That matters when you're standing there watching the clock. Everything was solid by the time he left and we didn't lose more than an hour of business. For a commercial property owner thats everything.

Louis was amazing. I was dealing with an “incorrect key ID” error and a car that wouldn’t start. After programming the key, he wasn’t satisfied when the problem came back and strongly suggested I have the battery tested again. He was right. It turned out I had both a key issue and a failing battery. What stood out most was his customer service. I was stressed, overwhelmed, and having a rough day, and he treated me with kindness, patience, and a great attitude. He genuinely cared about solving the problem instead of just completing the job. Highly recommend!

Our back door at the shop was a nightmare. You'd push it shut and it just wouldn't catch unless you basically kicked it into place. Eran from Diamondback Lock and Key in Chandler came out, took one look at it, and said the mechanism was dry. He hit it with graphite spray and the door closed smooth on the first try. Charged us a reasonable amount for the visit. Wish I'd called sooner.

Often a locksmith can, but it depends on the year, make and model.
