Rekeying a new or resale home
Goodyear has grown from about 95,000 residents at the 2020 census to an estimated 118,000 in 2024, so many homes here are new. Keys to a new build can pass through the builder, the trades, the sales team and the final walkthrough before they reach you. In a resale, the previous owners, their agents and anyone they gave a spare may still have one.
Rekeying settles that. The pins in each lock are changed so every earlier key stops working, and your hardware stays on the door. While we are there, the front door, back door and the door from the garage can be set to one key if the locks share a compatible keyway.
Replace a lock instead when it is damaged or loose, or when you want different hardware such as a keypad deadbolt.
Sticking locks
When a deadbolt drags or sticks
A deadbolt that drags, or a key you have to wiggle, does not always mean a failing lock. Before replacing anything, we check the likely causes, then adjust, repair or replace whatever is actually at fault:
- The bolt rubbing on the strike plate because the door has shifted with heat or settling
- A worn key, or a copy that was cut poorly
- A worn cylinder or lock mechanism
- On a keypad lock, weak batteries
Vehicles
Car keys, fobs and ignition problems
For a lost key, a fob that has stopped working or a key that will not turn, have the year, make and model ready and tell us whether you still have a working key. Newer keys need programming as well as cutting. We confirm the job before we book it.
Ignition symptoms point to different faults. A key that will not turn, sticks in the ignition or spins freely is usually mechanical; a car that does not recognize the key is usually a programming problem.

I had to use this locksmith on Monday, which happened to be a holiday, and I couldn’t have been more impressed with the service! They responded incredibly quickly, were very professional and friendly, and had the job taken care of fast. Their customer service was excellent, especially considering it was a holiday. Louis was amazing. I was dealing with an “incorrect key ID” error and a car that wouldn’t start. After programming the key, he wasn’t satisfied when the problem came back and strongly suggested I have the battery tested again. He was right. It turned out I had both a key issue and a failing battery. What stood out most was his customer service. I was stressed, overwhelmed, and having a rough day, and he treated me with kindness, patience, and a great attitude. He genuinely cared about solving the problem instead of just completing the job. Highly recommend!
