Central Phoenix has many older neighborhoods, from the historic districts of the Encanto village to the post-war streets of Alhambra. Doors there often carry older or mixed hardware: a knob from one decade, a deadbolt from another, sometimes a mortise lock set into the edge of the door.

Rekeying works on most pin-tumbler locks whatever their age, as long as the lock still turns smoothly. When a lock is worn out, the new one has to fit the holes already in the door, so tell us the brand and, if you can, send a photo of the lock and the door edge.

A door that will not latch is often a closer or alignment problem rather than a broken lock, so we look at the whole opening before replacing parts.
